About the Role

Open MIC is seeking a Tech Policy Research Associate to support research on the intersection of technology, corporate governance, and human rights. This is a part-time contract role with potential to grow into a full-time position for the right candidate.



What You'll Do

  • Conduct primary and secondary research on topics including AI and other emerging technologies, platform accountability, corporate governance, and global technology regulation

  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and litigation developments across the U.S. and key international jurisdictions

  • Synthesize findings from academic literature, think tank reports, regulatory filings, and news sources into clear, accessible articles and briefings

  • Write short articles on tech developments and impacts on a regular basis for Open MIC’s investor network

  • Track corporate disclosures, IPO filings, and governance developments at major technology companies

  • Support Open MIC’s company engagements and advocacy campaigns

  • Identify and flag emerging issues relevant to ongoing research priorities


What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in technology policy, digital rights, or a closely related field

  • A degree in law, public policy, computer science, finance, or a related discipline

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to move fluidly between policy documents, academic papers, and press coverage

  • Excellent writing skills and experience writing on a regular basis

  • Familiarity with writing for investor audiences is a strong plus

  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and flag when priorities need to shift

  • Ability to overlap at least in part with Eastern Standard Time


Compensation

Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
