While AI holds immense promise for society and business, it’s no secret that the technology is prone to falsehoods, with so-called “hallucinations” a problem for all large language models. Recent research shows top AI models collectively repeat misinformation 30% of the time. AI is also often used by malicious actors to intentionally create disinformation that is weaponized to damage reputations and sow division. All this false information creates risks for companies that create and use AI. It also lays the seeds for what has been called “epistemic collapse” – a world in which users are increasingly unable to discern what is true or authentic, potentially fueling economic instability.

This web session aims to help investors understand the risks related to AI and misinformation while exploring what they can do to press for more accountable corporate AI policies and practices.
